UPDATE

Well, I think I have at least up through my visit to Jenny’s last year in May on the first Toshiba laptop.  The screen died on it, so it’s just been sitting here keeping my images safe.  Those images are through May 2007 anyway.  Will keep looking, though I’m not sure much important happened between May and August.  I have photos still on my camera from August 2007 forward.  Relatively minor gap considering the 1-1/2 years I thought was gone!  Back to work….

I Think I’m Going to

Flip out. I can not find my back-up discs for my photos for the last 1-1/2 years. I’m not 100% sure I made them as stand alone discs. I’m pretty sure they are on back-up discs. BUT I can not find them. And I already cleaned off the Dell laptop at least once. So, if they’re not on discs somewhere, they are gone. I’ve checked the EHD and I only have up to June/July 2006 on it. That’s something. But not the last 1.5 years. DAMN. Will keep looking tomorrow. Wish me luck.

{believe} that they are here somewhere and I find them soon!

Today’s Horoscope

Author: sharon  //  Category: Uncategorized

Your emotions are deeply embedded in your past and, fortunately, you’ve been given a chance recently to meander down Memory Lane. Now it’s time to look at your street map and pick a new destination. You are at the beginning of the next chapter of your life, so observe what’s in front of you and don’t try to navigate by looking in the rear view mirror. Hmmm…sounds like me, huh?!  Interesting that 1X is trying to get in touch with me…and he’s married.  Can’t wait to find out what that nostalgia trip is all about!

La La La La (covering my ears) I Can’t Hear You

Nope, nope. Will not do it. LA LA LA LA….. I have things, important things to do! LA LA LA LA…..

Staring at the Screen

Nothing to say that amounts to much.  Cream-colored, bushy cat’s tail twitching in my face as he walks on my keyboard.  They do not like that I invade their space every night.  I’m sitting at the dining room table pushed up against the front window.  Their window, their perch.  And when the window is opened at least 4″, it is their door to freedom.  Well, from 5pm to 11pm anyway.  Here comes the grey and white, fat cat (not just long-haired fluffy, but fat, like Garfield) 90898 <===  See, that’s what they do on their way past me, paws on the keyboard, tails twitching past my mouth.  Nevermind that I’m writing.   And the dog.  Who insists that he cover up his food dish (not the water, just the food) with the throw rug that lies under the dishes.  Just like fat cat does, though fat cat performs this task more delicately and precisely than the tri-color dog.  Oh, and more quietly as well.  Tri-dog incessantly bangs the ceramic bowls against one another as he tries to nudge the rug up and over the rim of his food bowl.  Finally, exasperated, I reach down and cover up the dang bowl myself.  Why does he do this?  I think they are all species-challenged.  The cats do some dog-like things and vice versa.   Such interesting characters.  I think they need counseling!

Getting sleepy peeps.  Peace to ya!

***What Sharon Means*** (from one of those blog/quiz deals)

What’s Your Name’s Hidden Meaning?
http://www.blogthings.com/whatsyournameshiddenmeaningquiz/

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.  (Yup, uh huh - I know)
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.  (gee, don’t I wish!)
You don’t always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don’t have as much going for them as you do.  (You mean the part where I say if you aren’t part of the solution, you are part of the problem, so move aside.  Please.  What?!  I said it nicely.)

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.  (Thanks.  See above.)
Success comes rather easily for you… especially in business and academia.  (hmmm….do we really want to go there?!)

Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You’re a strong person.  You are usually the best at everything … you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic “Type A” personality.  (Could explain why I’m still single too)

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You’re always up to something.  (This is true)
You have a ton of energy, and most people can’t handle you. You’re very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you’re likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.  (Sounds kind of like a dare, doesn’t it!)

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.
At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.  (That’s why I write)
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy.  (Not really)  You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.  (But I really try not to!)

Hmmm… a lot of this sounds very familiar.  Do you think Virginia/Jenny and Sharon mean the same thing in some lost language that they used to write this quiz?!?!

I don’t read my posts after I publish them

oh the typo’s and punctuation errors there must be hanging out there for the world to see.  Oh well.  Part of my attempt at getting over the perfectionism issue that is imbedded in me.  One small step…

Off to go see my oldest son who thinks the one thing in this whole wide world that will make him happy is a motorcycle.  Must go talk sense into him.  A motorcycle would be fine.  IF he lived in, say,  Montana or South Dakota.  But we live in Florida.  The “senior citizen rules the road” (or so they think) capital of the world.  Especially in the winter time.  Sigh.

Until later…

{happy saturday}

Lots accomplished today. Woke up, dressed, walked the dog and RACED to the martial arts studio for class. A few minutes late, so I missed the stretching, but jumped right in. Home, clean the kitchen (A was up in the middle of the night making brownies - which I will have a small one tomorrow), made a veggie omelet, had a bit of coffee (hard to give up) and emptied out the hall closet. Not sure that was a good idea, as the contents of said boxes are now in my kitchen. I emptied 3 of them, but have to go through the other 4 to make sure there’s not any important piece of family history tucked in between some pages of this or that. Oh, and I have 3 boxes to go to the thrift store - just need to carry them down to the Vue (do I say car, truck or SUV…is SUV pretentious?). My new criteria for keeping or getting rid of - if I were to move across the country (when that cowboy sweeps me off my feet and carries me off to his ranch in Wyoming) would I take it with me? Or, will I need it in the next couple months? And if I will, is it inexpensive enough to just get another? Showered and I almost feel human. And I’ve almost got all the Christmas stuff put away. I know, I know… Back to it, have to make hay while the sun’s shining. Or while “A” is off fishing with his dad. You know, whatever works.

Now We’re Cooking

Author: sharon  //  Category: Uncategorized

Cooking for the week…chicken on Tuesday, beef yesterday, Thursday. I’m running back & forth from the grill to the stove and back. At the stove, I’m browning the beef, then the onions, and finally the carrots for pot roast. Suddenly, I break into a Rachel Ray (”A” says I look like her, so I’m going with it, even though she’s not my favorite Food Network star) imitation and I’m doing a running commentary on my cooking process…”A” wanders in to the kitchen saying “Mom, you know the windows are open, right? The neighbors can hear you!” He’s laughing at and with me. That’s a good thing for a 13-year-old. No eye roll, no obvious mortification on his face, no running to crank up the stereo or TV to drown me out. Must still have that fever. Nonetheless, a good moment. One that makes me smile. My son is still in that alien body. Good.

{believe} that teen boys will someday like hanging out with their parents again!

Just saying Good Night!

Author: sharon  //  Category: Uncategorized

It’s been a full day.  A is still sick, got most of what I need to get accomplished today done.  Including UBC.  Need to work on the nutrition part and be more disciplined.

Spent most of the evening working on the laptop trying to get the spyware/adware garbage off of it.  Spybot is checking things now.  Internet search still isn’t working properly.  Grrrr.

Tomorrow is another day though.  I’ll see you then!!

{believe} in a good night’s sleep.
